What do you think about meditation?
Do you feel it’s difficult to do? Or like it’s a waste of time? Or as though it’s irrational to even try to find a quiet time in your day to do it?
Do you even know how to meditate?
In my experience, when people have told others how to meditate, they noticed that the rules differed, so it was confusing to know what ways are right and what ways are wrong.
Well, guess what? The idea that there are rules to meditation is what’s wrong!
There aren’t any hard and fast rules. You experiment and find what works for you at the time that it works and that’s all there is to it.
I’ve tried so many different ways. And I loved many of those ways! And none of them are wrong.
Some did feel wrong at the time, though.
There were times when sitting up straight hurt my back; therefore it distracted me. There were times when closing my eyes felt awkward; therefore it distracted me. There were times when as much as I tried focusing on one thing, my thoughts jumbled up and I got down on myself for it even though I know I’m not supposed to let that get me down. There were times when visualizations that calmed others just didn’t feel calming to me at all.
And, really- let’s face it… How many times can you really get to a quiet place in the span of even an entire day?
These are the times I just let myself go brainless.
What does brainless mean?
It means not trying to focus on one thing. No visualization. No worries about finding a quiet room, sitting a certain way, or even becoming comfortable for that matter.
(Yes, all of those things help you meditate, but sometimes letting those ideas go is more beneficial for meditation because it allows you to just DO it.)
Wherever you are right now, just stop thinking. Stop trying. Stop everything. Just BE. I’m not even going to tell you how many seconds to keep this up, because I don’t want to inadvertently cause you to begin counting in your head, as I’ve often done. Just STOP. And that is all…
Now, come back to me.
I’m going to tell you what just happened while you were attempting “brainlessness”.
You were becoming more centered.
Your spirit was brightening (and your wrinkles were even softening).
As your body and brain chilled, your spirit remembered that you are a spiritual being in a physical body.
Your spirit guides were speaking to you and your soul was allowed the opportunity to listen.
Your INTUITION was stirring up some of its knowledge and sort of throwing it up toward your brain.
And it’s not a waste of time. I know this might sound counter-productive, but I’ve experimented with it, and it’s true: Making time for meditation makes more time for other stuff, because it helps guide you in your day so that you are more productive.
When you use your brain to make decisions, you’re actually overworking in a way!
Your decisions can come to you much more easily when you use the smartest part of you, which is your soul, which your hear through your intuition. Take the time to get in touch with it all throughout the day whenever you need anything.
You will see your life flowing more easily- I guarantee it! Go ahead! Tell your boss you’re going brainless. See where it gets you. (Just kidding. Don’t tell…) But, do enjoy your new flow!
