Think about having a vacation that helps you relax, have fun, see new things, meet new people and raise your spiritual vibrations.
No, I mean it- really think about it! Doesn’t even just thinking about it for a while feel nice?
There are so many yoga retreats all throughout the year and all over the world that you could attend. You might travel far away for it, or experience a vacation in or close to your own town.
And you don’t even have to have any previous yoga experience!
Depending on the specific retreat you choose, you will most likely be in for a variety of activities.
In November, I attended a yoga retreat in Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico. It was offered through Peak Beings, and it was amazing!
On the first day, a group of 8 of us met and walked to the beach at sunset to get acquainted with each other as well as with the town. We would have plenty of free time to wander around, after all! We then went to dinner and got to know each other a little better just through random conversations.
Most likely any retreat would have a variety of personalities, and in my judgment most yogis are very kind and down to earth people who are easy to get along with. You’re also bound to learn some interesting things just by listening to their various interests.
After dinner we chose, on an individual basis, to stay out or to go back to our individual hotel rooms.
There was an 8am yoga class to look forward to each of the rest of the days. We met on the rooftop of the hotel under a canopy. The trees and sunshine were in view, and the sounds of the shore and of people happily enjoying themselves in town were unexpected sound healing experiences for me. The yoga was calm and gentle, and the expectation was to listen to your own body before going into any pose that didn’t feel good. Of course, the classes all ended with a relaxation pose of just being still.
We could smell the breakfast that was being prepared for us, and right after class we went across the way to enjoy the homemade food. There was a lot of laughter followed by free time until the evening yoga class.
The walk to the beach and the walk to town were only a few minutes away. There were homemade souvenirs to buy, stores, restaurants and people galore. The streets were decorated with colors and the mood was festive.
Activities with the yogis included optional lectures on topics such as breathing, meditation, chakras and yoga philosophy. There was also a hike through a jungle to another beach where we went in search of little sea creatures and views. We released sea turtles into the ocean.
Activities in town included horseback riding, surfing lessons, eco tours, a vibrant nightlife with live bands in the streets and much, much more!
It was an awesome way to relax, rejuvenate, learn and meet new people. You don’t ever have to worry about waiting for a travel partner to go experience something wonderful for yourself.
Remember: you raise your spiritual vibes by trying new things and meeting new people, and you don’t have to be a yogi to enjoy a yoga retreat!
